Katy Perry has covered such songs as “Only Girl (In the World)” by Rihanna, “Big Pimpin’” by Jay-Z, “Whip My Hair” by Willow Smith and Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” on her California Dreams tour. Fans were pleased by the “Firework” singer, 26, when performing those past hits but they’d rather not hear a cover Justin Bieber, Monsters and Critics reports.
According to U.K. Mirror, during a concert in London’s Hammersmith Apollo Friday when Perry suggested to sing a cover of a Bieber song, the crowd booed her with the mere mentioning of the singer’s name.
Perry, a Belieber herself, defended Bieber saying, “Justin is mine and Russell’s adopted son. We love him dearly. Don’t boo him, guys. Come on.” She added, “I know all the cool kids came to this show tonight.”
Perry didn’t sing Bieber, instead she sang an acoustic version of Rihanna’s “Only Girl.”
